Purpose/How to Qualify

The Delta Hope House, a food pantry at 440 SW 3rd street in Cooper, is run by community volunteers. Groceries for the pantry are provided by the North Texas Food Bank and local donations.

Service hours are 8:30 am - 11:30 am every 1st, 2nd, 3rd, & 4th Thursday.

As of April 7, 2022, inside shopping has resumed, and qualified persons are allowed to shop once each month. See conditions for inside shopping.

Families who desire service must first be qualified at the Hope House on any given Thursday morning by bringing (1) proof of residence in Delta County (client/head of household name and address must be on the current electric bill; only 1 address can be used with a client/head of household application), (2) the name, Social Security number,and birth date for each member of the household receiving food (maximum 8 people in a household may receive food), and (3) wage/income verification of all working people living in each household.

In January each year, proof of income is required to renew a client account:

  • Current Social Security statement
  • Check stubs/bank statement
  • SNAP acceptance letter

The Commodity Supplemental Food Program is designed for Delta County residents 60 and above who meet the income guidelines.

Boxes can be picked up once each month on the Thursday morning of your choice. Each box includes canned fruits, canned meat, canned vegetables, cereals, cheese, shelf stable milk, peanut butter, dried beans, and either pasta, rice, macaroni, or spaghetti

Applicants must present:

Proof of Age
Birth Certificate, Driver's License, or Texas ID
Proof of Residency
Utility bill, Rent Receipt, or Recent correspondence
Proof of Income
SSI/SSDI, Employment, or pension
